Our story – Supporting Families on The Spectrum
Parenting on The Spectrum, LLC was born from a deeply personal place - the intersection of professional expertise and lived experience as a parent navigating the autism journey. Founded by Kayla, a dedicated advocate, educator, and parent, this business represents years of learning, growing, and discovering what families truly need when supporting children on the spectrum.
Kayla's journey began long before becoming a parent. With a background in education, behavioral support, and child development, she spent years working with neurodivergent children and their families. She witnessed firsthand the gaps in traditional support systems - the one-size-fits-all approaches that didn't honor each child's unique neurology, the lack of family-centered care, and the absence of truly compassionate, holistic support.
But it wasn't until Kayla became a parent to a child on the spectrum that everything changed. Suddenly, the theories and strategies she'd learned professionally met the reality of daily life - the sleepless nights, the overwhelming emotions, the constant advocacy, and the profound joy of watching her child grow and thrive in their own unique way. She found herself searching for support that understood both the clinical side and the heart side of parenting on the spectrum.
That search led to a realization: the support she needed didn't exist in the way families deserved. She envisioned something different - a practice that combined evidence-based strategies with deep compassion, that rejected harmful compliance-based approaches in favor of neurodiversity-affirming methods, and that truly partnered with families rather than dictating to them.
So Kayla founded Parenting on The Spectrum, LLC - not just as a business, but as a mission. A mission to provide the kind of support she wished she'd had from the beginning. A mission to help other families feel less alone, more empowered, and deeply understood. A mission to change how we support autistic individuals and their families, one relationship at a time.
Today, Parenting on The Spectrum, LLC brings together Kayla's professional training, her ongoing education in neurodiversity-affirming practices, and her authentic understanding of what it means to walk this path as a parent. Every service offered, every resource created, and every family supported reflects this unique combination of expertise and empathy.
This work matters because every family deserves support that sees their child as a whole person, not a collection of behaviors to modify. Every parent deserves a partner who understands both the challenges and the incredible gifts that come with raising a neurodivergent child. And every child on the spectrum deserves to grow up in a world that celebrates who they are.

Our Vision for the Future
We're just getting started. Our vision is to grow Parenting on The Spectrum, LLC into a comprehensive resource and support network that reaches families across the country and beyond. We're working toward:
- Expanded Services: We want to offer more specialized coaching programs, workshops, and training opportunities for parents, educators, and professionals.
- Community Building: We're creating spaces where families can connect, share experiences, and support one another. Isolation is one of the biggest challenges families face - we're building community to change that.
- Advocacy & Education: We're committed to changing how society understands and supports autism. Through our writing, speaking, and advocacy work, we're shifting the conversation toward neurodiversity-affirming approaches.
- Accessible Support: We believe quality support should be available to all families, regardless of financial circumstances. We're developing sliding-scale services and scholarship programs to ensure no family is left behind.
- Training & Certification: We want to train and certify other professionals in our neurodiversity-affirming, family-centered approach, multiplying our impact across the field. While continuing to expand our knowledge as well.
Our growth isn't just about expanding our business - it's about expanding hope, understanding, and support for families navigating life on the spectrum.
What We Offer
We provide a comprehensive range of services designed to support families at every stage of their journey:
Fundraisers & Community Support
We organize and facilitate fundraisers that bring communities together while supporting families who need financial assistance for therapies, resources, and support services. These events celebrate neurodiversity and build awareness in our communities.
Behavior Support & Skill Development
We help families understand the underlying reasons for behaviors and develop compassionate, effective strategies that work with the child's neurology, not against it. Our approach focuses on building skills, confidence, and independence in ways that feel natural and sustainable.
Family & Parent Coaching
Parenting a child on the spectrum comes with unique challenges and joys. Our coaching services provide personalized guidance, emotional support, and practical strategies tailored to your family's specific needs. We help parents navigate school systems, manage stress, celebrate wins, and build resilience.
Authorship & Educational Resources
We're committed to sharing knowledge and creating resources that help families understand autism and neurodiversity. Through writing, workshops, and educational materials, we're building a library of compassionate, evidence-based information that empowers families to make informed decisions.
Our Philosophy: Holistic, Compassionate, Trauma-informed
We take a fundamentally different approach to supporting individuals on the autism spectrum. Our philosophy is rooted in:
- Holistic Support: We don't just address behaviors - we support the whole person. We consider sensory needs, emotional well-being, family dynamics, and individual strengths and interests.
- Non-ABA Approach: We reject one-size-fits-all behavioral modification. Instead, we embrace neurodiversity-affirming practices that respect autistic individuals as they are, helping them develop skills and confidence in ways that feel authentic to them.
- Family-Centered Care: Parents and caregivers are the experts on their own children. We partner with families to create sustainable, meaningful support that fits into real life.
- Strength-Based: Rather than focusing only on deficits, we help families recognize and build on their child's unique strengths, interests, and abilities.
Why This Work Matters
Every child deserves to be understood and supported for who they are. At Parenting on The Spectrum, LLC, we believe that neurodiversity is not something to be fixed - it's something to be understood, supported and nurtured. Kayla founded this business because she was struggling to find compassionate, evidence-based support that honors her whole child and her whole family.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to empower parents, families, and individuals on the autism spectrum with the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to thrive. We're here to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and real-world family life, creating a community where every voice is heard and every person matters.
